Community Well
Rescue Well provides pet supplies and food to in-need residents on a temporary basis. We target communities with the highest owner-surrender rates, in an effort to keep pets in loving homes. Community Wells are managed by a community resident (“Community Well Manager”), and the food and supplies are donated by our supporters.
Well-Placed Pet
Rescue Well provides free screening and marketing assistance to pet owners seeking to re-home pets. We proactively contact area Craig’s List advertisers, and we promote the in-need pet on social media, and contact local rescue groups on owners’ behalf.
Shelter Support
Rescue Well provides support to Maryland’s largest open-admission shelter. Post-adoption, our team contacts adopters to collect feedback and to provide post-adoption support. We also provide Owner Surrender assistance to owners who are seeking to re-home pets.
Hotline
Rescue Well operates a 24-hour hotline, which receives an average of 600 calls per month. Callers contact us to report neglected or abused animals, and to seek assistance with pet supplies, veterinary care, training, and re-homing.
Front-line Intervention
We prevent or stop abuse and neglect through negotiating with, and educating owners. We provide year-round feet-on-the street presence in Baltimore’s most at-risk neighborhoods. Our goal is to help owners strive for the most humane and healthy homes for their pets.
Well-Connected
Rescue Well partners with social workers, local shelters (i.e. domestic violence and homeless), and organizations (i.e. Veterans’ associations), to provide assistance to both pets and people in-need. We strive to provide “whole solutions”, so we provide support and resources to both the pet and its owners.
